All Clear: St. Mary High School Returns to Normalcy Following Bomb Threat

Normalcy has been restored at St. Mary High School following a bomb scare at the institution on Monday morning. According to the Police, a voice note claiming that a bomb was set to detonate at the institution, was first sent to the school’s Principal on Sunday evening. Nora Gaye Banton has the details: Head of the St. Mary Police, Superintendent Bobbette Morgan, says in that voice note, the perpetrator demanded 40 million dollars. First responders, including personnel from the police, Jamaica Defence Force and the Fire Brigade, were mobilised and dispatched to the school on Monday morning. According to Superintendent Morgan checks were done and the area declared safe. This is the second bomb threat in under 48 hours. On Sunday parts of Ocho Rios in St. Ann were locked down after the authorities were told that a bomb had been placed at a gas station in the town. In a minute-long video posted on TikTok, a man, with his head covered and his voice altered, warned that a bomb was placed inside the gas station at Ocean Village Shopping Centre. He demanded that he be paid 20-million dollars by 7pm on Sunday, otherwise he would detonate the device. The alleged perpetrator later released another video, where his face could be seen plainly, stating that the bomb threat was only a ‘prank’. The JCF is urging that individual to turn himself in for questioning. Nora Gaye Banton for Nationwide News.
